Nutritional Supplementation
  • The standard American diet is almost completely devoid of nutritional value, and due to current farming practices our food is becoming less and less nutritious with more added pesticides, herbicides, and other pollutants. This results in nutritional deficiencies which cause a variety of symptoms. Conventional doctors have very little training in recognizing these deficiencies, and so they often go unnoticed until they are quite advanced. In addition, the RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance) of all nutrients/minerals is just enough to prevent overt disease – they are not enough to achieve optimal wellness.
  • Nutritional supplements include many things from vitamins and minerals to amino acids, and metabolic intermediates. These substances can have a profound effect on the body when used appropriately and at the correct dosage. The best part is that because these are substances that the body needs and recognizes anyway, there are virtually no side effects.
Botanical Medicine
  • Herbs are an incredibly important part of any nutritious diet – whether they are for cooking and seasoning, or for medicinal purposes. Herbs have an incredible number of nutrients and other substances in them that our bodies need. They have the ability to fend off infection without promoting resistance, which is very important in a time where antibiotics are over-prescribed and germs are not responding to antibiotic medications.
  • When prescribed appropriately botanical medicines are safe and incredibly effective. For every ailment under the sun, there is an herb that will help. That is the beauty of nature - everything we need is there, we simply need to know how and when to use it.
IV Therapy
  • There are times when you need powerful medicine to achieve dramatic change in a person and IV therapy is extremely useful in those situations. Perhaps you have a cold or flu and you just can’t seem to get past it, or perhaps you feel it coming on and would like to prevent it – a specialized vitamin IV can get you back on your feet in no time.
  • If a person is very depleted we often use very specific and personalized IV therapy to build up their reserves and get them back to a place where they can heal themselves. Also, in people with GI troubles, they often cannot absorb the nutrients they are taking in because their intestines are not functioning properly. With IV therapy we bypass the intestines entirely and give the body what it needs to heal. Typical IVs last less than an hour and can have a dramatic impact on a person’s health and quality of life.
Prolotherapy
  • Also known as Regenerative Injection Technique, this is a powerful way of strengthening tendons, ligaments, and other connective tissues of the body. Injections are performed either into the joint, or in the area of pain and weakness, which create a local inflammatory reaction. This reaction only lasts a short-time, but in that time the body has sent a number of different healing and building cells to the area. This allows the ligament/tendon to become stronger and thicker, thereby decreasing pain. This therapy is extremely effective for arthritis, tendonitis, old injuries, or repetitive injuries. The number of injections required depends on the individual response – some patients require a series of 4-6 injections, others may experience up to 70% reduction in pain in just one treatment! It also allows athletes to enjoy their sport at a greater level, allows weekend warriors to enjoy an extra round of golf, or a longer walk with their children and grandchildren. Some patients have even avoided surgery after prolotherapy.
Trigger Point Injections
  • Trigger points are the knots in muscles that can be so painful at times. These knots are very stubborn, and can take quite some time to respond to massage, and in the meantime they can cause considerable discomfort. People with fibromyalgia and other kinds of chronic back pain typically have a number of active trigger points that are problematic. By injecting anesthetic and nutrients directly into the knot, it allows the tissue to relax and absorb the nutrients. The anesthetic also temporarily numbs the area so that a person can receive deep massage without their usual pain. By releasing trigger points with injection therapies we can dramatically decrease a person’s pain levels, and improve the health of their muscles.
Hydrotherapy
  • This particular therapy was founded in Germany, and involves the application of alternately hot and cold wet towels, or other water, to achieve increased circulation of the blood and lymph. It is estimated that up to 30% of our body’s weight is in the lymph fluid, and this is where the body stores toxins and waste for later removal. By moving the blood and lymph more effectively the body can rid itself of unwanted waste and achieve great shifts in health. Often, people with high blood pressure will see their pressures go down to the normal range in as few as 5 treatments. People with pain syndromes will often see a marked decrease in pain, and those with chronic fatigue often see a dramatic increase in energy levels. When you eliminate those things that the body does not need or want, it is able to heal itself, and hydrotherapy is one of the premier ways that we accomplish this.
Acupuncture
  • This is the insertion of very small needles at very specific points in the body to move the Qi (pronounced chee, meaning energy), which then decreases pain, and improves any number of conditions. This system of medicine was founded in China hundreds of years ago, and has been subsequently tested and improved, to be the incredibly useful therapy that it is today. It is not painful, and in fact often people do not feel the needles going in. A treatment lasts approximately 20-30 minutes, and some people experience immediate results. Acupuncture is a wonderful therapy to use in addition to the other things listed here, and can speed healing in an amazing way.
Homeopathy
  • Homeopathic medicines are incredibly effective for a number of different conditions. They are prescribed based on a person’s total health picture, and are individualized to each person. Because they are prescribed based on a persons total picture, these medicines act on a number of different symptoms and can achieve far-reaching results in a very short period of time.
